Urban Zen Integrative Therapy

In 2015, Dr. Duddey Sportscare Centers added Urban Zen Integrative Therapy (UZIT) to its menu of services.  UZIT involves the application of gentle healing modalities to address the primary symptoms of pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, constipation, and exhaustion (PANIC-E).  The therapy addresses PANIC-E symptoms by activating the parasympathetic nervous system and calming the sympathetic nervous system, which allows the body to heal.

Urban Zen Integrative Therapy sessions incorporate Reiki, Yoga Therapy, and Essential Oil Therapy.

What You Can Expect in a UZIT Session

Arrive to your first UZIT session about 10 minutes early (unless otherwise instructed) to review your current state with your therapist. Wear comfortable clothing. You will remain clothed throughout your session. A UZIT session incorporates three gentle, healing therapies to address PANIC-E symptoms:

  • Yoga Therapy
  • Reiki
  • Essential Oil Therapy

Yoga Therapy in A UZIT Session: In the course of a UZIT Session, the therapists will guide you through restorative yoga poses, breath awareness exercises, and body awareness. The yoga postures employed in a UZIT session foster improved circulation, digestion, respiration, and relaxation. Breath awareness techniques are used to calm the nervous system and focus the mind in the present. Lastly, your therapist will take time to guide you to scan your body and offer techniques you can use top reduce pain and invite relaxation.

Reiki in a UZIT Session

Reiki is an ancient Japanese therapy that brings balance to the body and deep relaxation allowing the body to heal itself. The goal of Reiki is to promote our own natural healing ability by providing deep relaxation and balance. Some patients report feeling of “energy flowing” during a Reiki session.

Essential Oil Therapy in a UZIT Session

We use therapeutic grade oils made from 100% plant materials to promote relaxation, aid in digestion, minimize insomnia, exhaustion, and pain.

UZIT Sessions are available for $70 for a session. A session lasts approximately 60 minutes.
